Welcome to the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Narsinhbhai Patel Dental College & Hospital, Visnagar.
Goal: To achieve excellence in the art and science of dentistry based on scientific protocols
The department deals with the prevention of dental caries and pulpal diseases, restoring the diseased tooth to its original form and function by providing restorative and endodontic treatments.
Provide dental awareness to the society regarding dental diseases
Year of started the department: in the year 2007
Year of P.G. starting: 2012 (Start with P.G.seats)
Department is well equipped with state of art equipment and instruments like surgical operating microscopes, Raypex 6 apex locator (5th generation), Root ZX apex, Hitech dental chairs etc.
On an average 65 to 70 patients are treated for various dental diseases by the undergraduates, post graduates, and specialist faculties.
Department meets the entire infrastructure and equipped as per the norms of the dental council of India.
Activities of this department comprise the following.
- To train undergraduate from 2nd B.D.S. to the internship.
- The undergraduates are trained to diagnose the simple condition and treat any kind of simple dental defects like dental caries, discoloration of teeth and basic endodontic procedures.
U.G.ACTIVITIES
The undergraduate training program commences from 2nd B.D.S. with lectures and preclinical exercises and only the preclinical examinations in this year.
The lecture program and clinical posting will be in 3rd & 4th year B.D.S.
P.G.ACTIVITIES
Postgraduate students join the department in the month of May-June (approx). Start with the pre-clinical exercises and diagnose the outdoor patients. They have to attend the basic medical classes.
Entire 3 years P.G schedule will commence with the presentation of seminars, journal club presentations, poster and paper presentation with all academic activities.
They will start treating the patients in the second semester. They have to perform all the clinical exercises step by step.

The goal of the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics is to provide care that is specific and appropriate to the needs of each patient. Patients are treated using contemporary and advanced techniques under strict infection control guidelines.

Advanced Dental Simulator
Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics organized a Lecture for the benefit of Undergraduates, Interns and Postgraduate students of the institute to gain knowledge Dental Simulator. This Program was conducted on the 13/10/2023.The Resource person for this event was a well-known speaker Dr. Shanth Kumar from Sandor Medicaids Pvt. Ltd. Hyderabad.
The Lecture promoted the use of a Dental Simulator before starting any patients. This simulator included showing proper technique, results of the steps during the procedures, all procedure that can be done in the simulator,
Core Concepts In Endodontics
Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics organized 5Day Lectures, Live Demonstration and Hands-on for the benefit of Undergraduates, Interns and Postgraduate students of the institute to gain knowledge about Core Concepts In Endodontics.

Latest Trends
This Program was conducted by Department of Conservative dentistry and Endodontics in collaboration with Gujarat Association of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics (GACDE). It was organized with the aim to address the philosophy, knowledge and skills necessary for acquiring expertise to perform inlay and post and core. The main objective was to have all the experts of Endodontics including delegates and postgraduates under one roof for exchange of knowledge and expertise. Guest Lecture by renowned national speakers:Dr.K. Ramya( Assoc.Prof.), GSL Dental College and Hospital, Andhra Pradhesh,Dr.Kishan K. V., Prof, K M Shah Dental College and Hospital, Vadodra and Dr. Kunjal Mistry, Asst Professor, Faculty of Dental Science, Nadiad was also organized. Hands-on Workshop on Dynamic Navigation by Dr.Niraj Kinariwala was also planned to improve the clinical skills of postgraduates and abrief about the current advances in the field.
Research in Dentistry
Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology and Oral Microbiology and Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics jointly organized a career counseling event for the benefit of undergraduate and postgraduate students of the institute to take up Research as a career option. The topic for the expert session was “Research in Dentistry: Prospects and Scope” on 6th September 2022, 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
Resource person for the event was a well known speaker pan India, Yoga Acharya Prof (Dr.) Vivekananda Kattimani, Prof Dept of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, HOD Dept of Clinical Research, Sibar Insitute of Dental Sciences, Vijayawada, Andra Pradesh.
Rubber-dam Isolation Simplified
Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics organized a Lecture, Live Demonstration and Hands-on for the benefit of Undergraduates, Interns and Postgraduate students of the institute to gain knowledge about Rubber Dam. The topic for the expert session was “Rubber Dam Isolation Simplified” on 28th April 2023, 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
