About Us
Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology & Oral Microbiology is the specialty of Dentistry that assesses the cause, behaviour, process and effects of the diseases affecting the Oral and Maxillofacial regions. This is essential for understanding the histological basis of various dental treatment procedures.
Department of Dental Anatomy and Dental Histology trains all the BDS students to gain knowledge of the normal anatomy, histology, physiology, and embryology of oral and paraoral structures. We also confer the carving skills to the students on the morphology of all teeth and occlusion.
Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology & Oral Microbiology is concerned with the pathologies associated with hard and soft tissues of oral and paraoral structures.
All PG students will be well trained in basic and advancements in oral & maxillofacial pathology and oral microbiology. They will get an opportunity to get accomplished with varieties of cases and handling of specialized microscopes and they will also be trained in research works.
- The Department focuses on Research and publication
- Organized several State level CDE Programs & Workshops.
- The Department has state of the art equipment’s for histopathological, cytopathological, hematological & immunohistochemical evaluation of various oral pathologies.

Laboratory
DADH LAB
The Dental Anatomy and Oral Histology Laboratory is designed to provide students with a practical understanding of dental structures and the histological composition of oral tissues. The lab is equipped with modern instruments and tools necessary for studying the anatomy of teeth, including their morphology, development, and variations. It also supports the examination of oral tissues under microscopes, allowing students to explore the microscopic structure of the oral cavity, including enamel, dentin, pulp, and other associated tissues. The lab environment fosters hands-on learning and research, helping students to gain essential skills required for clinical practice and advanced studies in dentistry.
DEPARTMENT & MUSEUM
The Department of Oral Pathology and Oral Microbiology at Narsinhbhai Patel Dental College & Hospital (NPDCH) in Visnagar is equipped with specialized facilities to enhance the learning and research experience for students.
Departmental Library
The departmental library is a resource-rich facility that houses an extensive collection of textbooks, reference books, journals, and research papers specific to oral pathology and oral microbiology. This library is designed to support the academic needs of students and faculty by providing access to up-to-date literature and scientific advancements in the field.
Department Museum
The department museum is an educational space that showcases a variety of specimens, models, and displays related to oral pathology and microbiology. It includes pathological specimens of various oral diseases, normal and abnormal tissue samples, and models that illustrate the progression of oral conditions. The museum serves as a valuable visual and educational aid, allowing students to observe and study the physical manifestations of oral diseases and the microscopic details of oral tissues.
HISTOPATHOLOGY LABORATORY
The Histopathological Laboratory at the Department of Oral & Maxiilofacial Pathology and Oral Microbiology at Narsinhbhai Patel Dental College & Hospital (NPDCH) in Visnagar is a specialized facility dedicated to the microscopic examination and analysis of oral tissues.
This lab is equipped with state-of-the-art instruments, including advanced microscopes, microtomes, tissue processors, and staining equipment, which are essential for the preparation and examination of tissue samples.
